Whilst staying in Sorède, we visited the Valley of the Tortoises, a park and sanctuary dedicated to studying and preserving tortoises and turtles – we saw a very sad case of a rescued giant tortoise who had spent thirty years of her life in a Paris apartment having never seen the sun, or been fed properly. She has been disabled as a result (she didn’t develop properly as she grew), but thankfully has a safe (and properly cared for) life now (and she could life for 150 years!)
It was a really lovely few hours in a beautiful location!
